Through the use of interactive and highly-stimulating exhibits, more than one of the human senses will be activated and engaged.
Strongly rooted in Bihar’s history, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Science City will build upon the legacy and innovation in Bihar to promote science to the citizens. It does so through multi-sensory and immersive environments, as well as various hands-on science programmes and active outdoor spaces. We believe that the Science City will emerge as a place of educational significance for the residents and tourists in Patna, in Bihar, and in India.
The overall visiting experience of the new Science City will aim at creating a narrative connecting the architecture, exhibition galleries and landscape for a cohesive and interactive learning journey. Instead of static collections, exhibitions are dynamic and appeal to all the senses through various techniques such as projection, moving imagery and huge interactive exhibits. The use of materials in the architecture as well the building’s response to the local context and climate are some ways to demonstrate and promote sustainable design. The biodiversity of Bihar will be exhibited through the landscape design and the use of local flora and fauna, to create a thriving ecosystem which will flourish in time. The visitor experience is designed to support the scientific method and to encourage ‘epistemic curiosity’ which means ‘the sustained quest for understanding that begets insight and innovation’.
On the whole, the Science City will surely be a new state-of-the-art landmark in Patna and serve as an oasis in its high-density neighbourhood. It will have a direct positive impact on Patna’s image, which will position the state of Bihar as a major hub for numerous cultural projects in the region.
