Essential Eames: A Herman Miller Exhibition captures the spirit and philosophy behind the most famous couple in design – Charles and Ray Eames.

Essential Eames: A Herman Miller Exhibition captures the spirit and philosophy behind the most famous couple in design – Charles and Ray Eames. Based on the book, An Eames Primer, the exhibition traces the life and work of the design couple who are credited with “…changing the way the 20th Century sat down” (The Washington Post).

WY-TO’s design catered a journey of the couple’s life through a thematic based narrative. The exhibition covers the various influences Eameses casted upon various industries of design and art; graphic, toy and exhibition design, further reaching out to film and photography. Furthermore, the exhibition showcased Charles Eames’s architectural works, including the Case Study House, and Ray’s paintings, which shown to public for the first time.

Eameses’s furniture designs are showcased and can be engaged throughout the exhibition, with the climaxing gallery to showcase over 80 pieces in a single space. Learning from Eames, the essence of fun and amazement leading to new exploration and knowledge has been expressed in the exhibition. Displays of exploded Eames chairs hung in mid air and castle-like assembly of Large House of Cards, which kids were able to creep in the assembled structure, gave visitors an alternating learning experience that played an homage to the couple.
