The 3 macro narratives derives from the Chinese notion of 衣食住行 (Yi shí zhù xíng), highlighting every aspect of our day to day lives.
It encompasses the traits evolution of the Chinese cultural identity, creating a formula of a thematic framework. It is not necessary that all sub themes will be equally distributed amongst the different trait groups.

The term 活 means to live, or be alive. It is reflective of the rich living culture of the contemporary Singaporean Chinese, its evolution and continuous development. The unique Singaporean Chinese identity is vibrant, transcendent and very much alive; its beauty lies in its willingness to embrace the new,
while still possessing a deep respect for its age-old traditions, morals and shared values.
