As the new hub for both amateur and professional musicians, 13 Sonore embraces three main activities within the building
13 Sonore is situated in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, which is a strategic situation: gateway to the Paris Chinatown and very well connected to the rest of the metropolis. Acting as the new hub for both amateur and professional of Music, 13 Sonore embraces three main activities all connected in the same building.
The existing building is kept as a memory of the old music conservatory and develops on its 3 storey, a high-tech platform for creating and featuring music. Rehearsal studios, co-working space address to the community needs while the multi-purpose 200sqm auditorium hosts conferences during daytime and music performances at night. As a laboratory of innovative music practice, this space is converting, by removing the rows of seat, in a Silent Box where new music experiences take place.
On 2nd and 3rd levels, the configuration of café and restaurant allows gathering as well as live entertainment bar with live music stage at night. An open-air terrace offers a panoramic view towards the iconic housing blocks built in the 80’s.
A new kind of Boutique-Hotel is developing on top of the centre. The reception offers special common space for musician’s rehearsal and acoustic working space. This space opens toward a landscaping hanging gardens, serene haven where you can unwind and relax. As suspended toward the main entrance, special guest rooms are staked in a tower offering views on the most impression Paris skyline. This elegant vertical shape is becoming the new landmark in the 13th district.
13 Sonore embraces the new all-inclusive multicultural facilities connected to its neighbourhood as well as attracts musicians from all over the world.

Nouvelle plateforme pour musiciens amateurs et professionnels, 13 Sonore réunit en son sein trois activités principales
En réponse à l’appel à projet « Réinventer Paris », notre équipe pluridisciplinaire propose de donner une seconde vie à l’ancien conservatoire du 13ème arrondissement.
En valorisant la mémoire du lieu, le projet développe une maison du son et des musiques répondant aux attentes du quartier et aux exigences de pointe, très spécifiques aux pratiques musicales. A chaque étape du projet, les actions innovantes de concertation participative visent à intégrer directement les musiciens, les usagers locaux et associatifs.
Dans son état existant, l’édifice cerné de tours occupe l’angle de deux rues. Son allure peu attractive invite à reformuler son identité tout en renforçant sa présence dans un voisinage vertical. Le projet établi de multiples relations au contexte immédiat qui renouvellent son insertion dans le site. Le bâtiment trouve sa rentabilité grâce à un programme mixte et commercial qui animent le quartier : espaces de coworking flexibles et généreux, studio de répétition faciles d’accès, grand café-concert/restaurant accueillant des événements musicaux, hôtel avec chambres acoustiques et vue panoramique sur Paris. Il s’agit d’une verticalisation du programme : « musique à tous les étages ». Innovant dans son approche, la forme du projet illustre la mixité et valorise l’existant en le surélevant d’une tour en bois : légère et rapide, la mise en oeuvre est adaptée au contexte, permettant l’occupation des niveaux bas durant le chantier. C’est une réponse au besoin de mémoire qu’éprouve notre société en plein mouvement, à l’heure où les processus d’hybridation et de recyclage sont au coeur des débats.
